In 2015, EVERY Pre-K through 3rd grade student suspended in the city of St. Louis, Missouri public schools (SLPS) was Black.

Every. Student.

That district had the 2nd highest suspension rate of elementary students in the country. Shut It Down is a program in St. Louis, Missouri that works with teachers and administrators to help create equitable spaces and environments that respond to trauma. Dr. April Warren-Grice, the current project director, shares with us her passion for seeing the genius in every kid and stories of how Shut It Down is changing schools for the better.
